The Israeli spirit

What an amazing country is Israel, i was grateful to visit Israel again recently. This time I stayed in Beitar Illit, near Jerusalem in Judea area, others will call it “Westbank”.

westbank

A totally different world for me, a village inhabited by Orthodox Jews. Honestly I did not know what to expect. In Europe the inhabitants of Judea are called mostly aggressive and intolerant, especially when it comes to Orthodox Jews. Well, I did not noticed that at all, on Shabbat I walked through the city and several women, by seeing my foreign looks, came to my rescue finding the road. No one looked strange to me, male or female, I felt very safe and welcome. The city is beautiful, the view fantastic and the people are warm, peaceful and tolerant.

When I was there, the forest fires started, as later became clear it was arson committed by arabs that do not hesitate one moment to put the fire in “ their” Holy land, destroying nature, animals, houses, cars. They do not care, they are used to live in a dessert and like to destroy all what the Jewish nation has worked so hard for to achieve. The Arabs destroyed a lot, only in Haifa more then 700 houses where affected by the arson, but the Spirit in Israel stayed strong and proud.  Only for that I admire the Israeli’s so much already.

The last weekend I stayed in Timrat a beautiful village in the north of Israel. I was invited by amazing people that lived there for many years. Friday we had a nice dinner with the family and friends of the family, all 3 men have fought in Yom Kipur war, in Golan and Sinai, all of them in a tankbrigade of IDF.timrat

One of the people lived in Haifa and saw the arson from close. Very touching to see, the optimistic attitude, the strong love for Israel. They just know that Israel will stand no matter what. Am Yisrael Chai.

Saturday we went to the Golan, Amos and Shaul showed me around. It was a trip of a lifetime.Very interesting to hear the stories, to see the places and realize the miracle of the victory from Israel in those days. Such a little country but so heroic, everybody should see it in reality.

The reality of Israel becomes so very clear. Golan is situated high. The Syrian border before 1973 was high, Israeli’s/ kibbutzim in the vally. For the cruel Syrians the inhabitants of the kibbutz were living targets. Whole generations until 1973 has grown up in shelters. Syrians had no mercy with civilians, they will not have mercy in the future. That together with the fact that the victory of Israel was accompanied with so much bloodshed from IDF soldiers, are good reasons to never return the Golan to savages.

Driving at the Golan near the border of Syria, showed something else, peaceful beautiful Israel at one side, Bombs, devastation, violence at the other side. It was very busy with shootings, bombings at the  Syrian Sides, different groups( tribes?) fighting eachother, showing the Muslim/Arab attitude of violence. Once again the world should realize that peace is always offered by Israel and the answer from Arabs is always violence. How on earth one can talk to nations with such a different mentality? Unfortunately it is impossible and the best one can reach is a status quo. Let the Arabs be afraid of Israel and there will be a more peaceful situation.

In the evening we went to a Moshav Ramot Naftali, situated near the Israel trail (Shvil Israel) where Aliza Ron and her family lives. Here again the spirit of Israel became very clear. In the Gaza War from 2014 their son served in the special forces unit Givati. One of the soldiers from that unit died during one of the operations. His name was Liel Gideoni. The Ron family decided to dedicate their lives to commemorate the name of this young soldier that was always smiling. They named their vineyard that IDF soldiers planted for them ( and even Liel Himself planted a tree there) after Liel and make all kind of activities to let the name of Liel live among our global spirit. They sell olive oil, they sell bracelets and ask people to make a picture with the bracelet and put it on the Facebook page for Liel.

It is amazing that people are doing this unconditionally straight from their heart. Only in Israel I have seen this.

One can ask themselves, why one in general feel so very good in Israel, I personally think, despite there are ofcourse enough problems in Israel. The love for life in Israel is huge and the love for the land of Israel also. In no other country I feel this spirit and that makes Israel Unique as it is.

Veni Vedi Vici and Am Yisrael Chai.

About The other side Is Real

My name is Sabine Sterk and since I was very young I was a fanatic Israeli supporter. My father worked for the UNTSO and was sent to the Middle East when I was 12 years old. I lived in Syria and Israel and saw from a young age the difference between the cultures… When I returned to the Netherlands I noticed that the Anti Israel sentiment was increasing and I started to fight this. I admire Israel for all the good things that are achieved in the country. I am not religious and my motto is: Israel has the right to exist and Israel has the right to defend herself. As long as I live I will stand up for Israel and speak out on behalf of her. My ultimate dream is to find work in Israel or for Israel… I still hope to Fulfill that dream anytime soon… There is nothing I want more. I am passionate, a true Zionist supporter, enthusiastic, impulsive, impatient, honest but always try to live the best I can.
