A dangerous subject

The sentiments regarding Israel are strong, very strong, it seems that everyone in this world has an opinion, but overall the idea is one can’t love Israel without being religious.

A dangerous subject:
Religion, is there anything else in this world that causes so much death and destruction as religion?300px-religionsymbolabr

If you count all the natural disasters, accidents, plane crashes and other causes of death, religion and wars fought for religious reasons unfortunately have the biggest mortality rate. And unfortunately Islam and Christianity are the two religions throughout history where you see and saw this phenomenon the most. I am a person that is very logical, I like to see evidence. I respect the one that is religious, of course, but for me it doesn’t work.

Judaism
The most feeling I have with Judaism. As far as I know there was no war started from Judaism and there are so many rules in Judaism that you can bring back to scientific evidence. For example the Kosher rules, meat and milk can’t be mixed together, there must be a certain time between the consumption of them. Why one can ask, the answer is simple. Milk reduces the absorption of iron in the blood and in meat there is a lot of Iron. So this kosher rule is very smart and healthy, if you only look to it in technical way.

There are so many rules in Judaism that makes scientific sense that I almost would consider to convert to Judaism. But also in Judaism there are religious movements that make up their own non-logical rules, so I stay better safe than sorry and consider myself as secular.

Loving Israel
Obvious I do love Israel for different reasons than religion. It started as a child when I entered Israel the first time. I felt an energy there that I can not explain, from the very first moment I felt home, a feeling that never disappeared again.

When Israel was still part of the Ottoman empire or was part of the British mandated territory, it was an empty un- developed area, big parts were desert. Now, If you see how the Israeli’s build their country, you can not have anything else then admiration. Cities are modern and developed, infrastructure is good, especially when you compare it to other countries in the Middle east. In most cities you can enjoy free wifi networks.

Nature:
On the very same place, where once, long time ago the sun was terrorizing the soil and there was nothing else than dry sand, are now trees growing and agricultural companies, producing the excellent Israeli products . How special that is and only accomplished by the never ending devotion of the Israeli’s to build their country. Water management; the Dutch may think they are masters in it, but in Israel they learned the hard way to invent the best way to save water and even to recycle water. So is the water that is used to flush the toilet different as the water that is used as drinking water and in the very dry deserts they use every drop of water to grow the trees.13119071_923271494452749_1144818193340308754_n

Historical rights:
Besides the development of the country, there are also the historical rights to the land. Based on archeological evidence one can see clearly that the homeland of the Jewish people is Israel, the temple has been build in Jerusalem, the eternal and undivided capital of Israel. But the countless other archeological evidences are speaking their own story.

Persecution:
The fact that the Jewish population suffered from persecution for ages and the anti-Semitism until today is still present and even growing legitimizes the need of an own state. Looking back to the second World War all reasonable people will say, Never again the Holocaust should happen, Never again. The only place in this world where Jews can feel totally home is the Jewish state of Israel. It is our moral duty to support the only democracy in the Middle east; Israel, the only shining star in a sea of darkness that the rest of this area appears to be.

Beautiful Israel:
The Jewish nation contributed so much to the world. Inventions in science, high-tech, healthcare and in countless other fields should make the world proud of this tiny nations and her beautiful people.

The opposite is true, left winged political parties and some Islamic countries are calling for the complete destruction of the only Jewish state. Other organizations like the EU are trying to interfere in the Internal Israeli politics for example by calling out for BDS ( boycott divestment and sanctions) against the Jewish state.

And the beautiful part, despite all the problems, the jealousy and even hate towards Israel and the Jewish people, there is no other country where you can feel that the people appreciate life freedom and peace so much as in Israel.

About The other side Is Real

My name is Sabine Sterk and since I was very young I was a fanatic Israeli supporter. My father worked for the UNTSO and was sent to the Middle East when I was 12 years old. I lived in Syria and Israel and saw from a young age the difference between the cultures… When I returned to the Netherlands I noticed that the Anti Israel sentiment was increasing and I started to fight this. I admire Israel for all the good things that are achieved in the country. I am not religious and my motto is: Israel has the right to exist and Israel has the right to defend herself. As long as I live I will stand up for Israel and speak out on behalf of her. My ultimate dream is to find work in Israel or for Israel… I still hope to Fulfill that dream anytime soon… There is nothing I want more. I am passionate, a true Zionist supporter, enthusiastic, impulsive, impatient, honest but always try to live the best I can.
